About Tristar
Tristar Advanced Software makes audio software for musicians: instruments to play in your DAW or on their own.
Tristar was founded in 2026 by a software engineer with 30 years of experience building high-quality and complex software solutions, who has been a musician for even longer. Its products are made to be played: quick to get a sound out of, deep enough to keep exploring, and looked after by the people who made them.
Tristar Advanced Software, LLC is based in Ohio, in the United States.

Features
Astrel™ is a warm, characterful five-voice polysynth with analog-style oscillators and filters, deep modulation, an arpeggiator, a 64-step chord sequencer and built-in studio effects, on one page of controls laid out like a hardware front panel.
Sound
Two band-limited oscillators per voice, with saw, triangle and pulse waves that can all run at once, plus a sub-oscillator and white or pink noise
Hard sync and through-zero FM, free of aliasing even at extreme settings
A 2-pole filter that morphs continuously from low-pass through notch to high-pass, with a band-pass mode, and a separate high-pass and low-pass pair before it or in parallel with it
A Vintage control that gives each voice its own small tolerances and slow drift, and per-voice overdrive
Five voices, played polyphonically or stacked in unison with adjustable detune, and four portamento modes
Movement
A 16-slot modulation matrix with 20 sources and 66 destinations, including audio-rate modulation
Two looping DADSR envelopes and two LFOs (one global, one per voice) up to 500 Hz, with tempo sync
An arpeggiator with five modes over one to three octaves, Hold, tap tempo, DAW sync and a probability control
A 64-step sequencer that records chords of up to five notes per step, transposes live from the keyboard, plays in five directions, varies itself with probability and mutation, and can send a modulation value on every step
Effects and presets
Twelve effect types, including BBD and tape delays, chorus, phaser, rotating speaker and lo-fi, followed by a plate reverb; every effect knob can be modulated
An original factory bank of 305 presets in eleven categories, with a browser that searches, sorts and keeps your favorites and star ratings
Playing it
A standalone app that needs no DAW, with an on-screen keyboard and recording straight to 24-bit WAV (WASAPI or ASIO® on Windows)
Responds to velocity, aftertouch, breath, expression and foot controllers; MIDI Learn for any other knob; Low Split for bass-and-lead playing
One license covers every format on two computers at a time, with no subscription
